Music Action:
My Portfolio
ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Naz. I was born and raised in Brixton, South London, with a Bangladeshi upbringing that gave me a unique perspective on life from an early age. Growing up around the culture, creativity and energy of Brixton is where my passion for music, film and storytelling first began.
Coming from an Asian background, music and media were not seen as obvious career paths, but creativity always felt natural to me. From a young age, I felt the urge to document my surroundings and reimagine them through music, film and photography.
Today, I’m a creative with over a decade of experience in video production, content creation and music. I specialise in filming, editing and sound engineering, with a strong focus on storytelling across digital platforms.
Through INTHELABWITHNAZ, I create purposeful digital content that captures meaningful moments, amplifies voices and connects with audiences authentically. My work brings together creative production, communications and social impact, with a passion for music, wellbeing and community-led storytelling.
Arts Charity Festival FilmArts Charity Festival Film
This video documents a community arts festival delivered and co-created by young people through an arts charity programme. The project captured the energy, creativity and voices of young people as they took part in planning, filming and sharing the story of the festival.
As part of the programme, I delivered 10 practical media workshops, supporting young people to learn key skills in filming, editing, camera work, sound capture and visual storytelling. The final video was filmed and edited by the young participants, giving them hands-on experience of producing real content for a live community event.
My role included planning and delivering the workshops, mentoring the young creatives, supporting them on location, and helping them build confidence using professional media equipment. The project gave young people the opportunity to develop technical skills while also learning teamwork, communication, creativity and how to tell stories through film.
This piece is a strong example of my work combining arts, media, youth engagement and community storytelling.
Performance Led Cinematic Music Video Production
Behind this video, I handled the directing, edit and colour grade. It was filmed using an outdoor car mounting system, wireless transmitters, Sony mirrorless camera, Aputure lighting and a DJI Gimbal.
Revamp Project Film
This video documents a creative revamp project within an arts and community setting, capturing the process, people and final outcome of the work. The project focused on transforming the space and showcasing how creative collaboration can bring new energy, purpose and identity to a community environment.
I led on the revamp project and managed the overall delivery, supporting the planning, coordination and creative direction from start to finish. My role included overseeing the project, working with the team, managing the process, and making sure the final outcome reflected the vision and needs of the organisation.
This video demonstrates my experience in project management, creative leadership, visual storytelling and producing content for arts, charity and community organisations.

Product/Brand Content
For this project, I was shooting content for a natural drinks brand, using a coloured backdrop, two-point Aputure lighting and natural lighting to build a fresh and visually clean setup. This video was created to highlight the behind the scenes process and show what really goes into the work I do on set.
Drone and Atmosphere Work.
This piece began as a drone test shoot, capturing wide landscape shots while testing the drone’s tracking system. The edit was kept minimal, with simple grading and sound design added around the birds passing through the frame. More than anything, this video was about atmosphere, feeling and creating a sense of connection with nature.
On-Bike Content
For this piece, I wanted to turn a regular riding video into something that felt more meaningful and relatable. Shot using action cameras and a GoPro mounted with electronic suction mounts and magic arms, the focus was on creating immersive visuals from simple moments.
Because I was relying fully on natural light, I chose to ride in the direction of the sunlight so it hit me from the front rather than from behind. That decision helped shape the mood and made the footage feel more intentional.
The editing approach was kept clean and minimal, using keyframing, colour correction and film burns to soften transitions and blend the cuts in a way that felt natural and cinematic
Cover Letter
I’m Nazmul Hoque, a creative with over a decade of experience in video production, content creation and music. I specialise in filming, editing and sound engineering, with a strong focus on storytelling across digital platforms. I have also worked in the arts charity sector for 15 years, giving me an in depth understanding of how creative organisations engage communities, communicate impact, build trust with participants and use storytelling to support wider social change.
Born and raised in Brixton, South London, with a Bangladeshi upbringing, I have always understood the importance of culture, identity and representation. My passion for music and film started from documenting the creativity around me, and over time this developed into a career focused on using media to amplify voices, tell meaningful stories and connect with communities. This feels closely aligned with Music Action International’s work co-creating music for wellbeing with survivors of war, torture, trafficking and persecution.
Throughout my career, I have created a wide range of content across campaigns, social media, events, interviews, educational projects, artist development and community programmes. My portfolio includes examples of campaign content, video storytelling, promotional visuals, social media assets and project documentation that demonstrate my ability to turn real stories and project activity into engaging digital content for different audiences.
I am confident planning content, filming and editing video, writing copy, producing social media posts, capturing interviews and shaping campaign material that is visually strong, purposeful and aligned with an organisation’s message. I have worked closely with young people, artists, funders, facilitators, partners and community organisations, often supporting people to share their stories in a way that feels safe, respectful and empowering.
The role’s focus on developing digital campaigns, creating content from videos, audio clips and reports, supporting mailers, website updates, public engagement and ethical representation strongly matches my experience. I understand the importance of communications in the arts charity sector, not only to promote work, but to build relationships, increase engagement, support fundraising, evidence impact and represent communities with care and dignity.
I also bring experience in partnership working, funding reports, evaluation, stakeholder communication and creative programme delivery. This has given me a strong understanding of how communications connect with wider organisational goals, including audience development, income generation, reporting, community engagement and long-term sustainability.
What excites me most about this role is the chance to bring together my experience in music, media, arts charities and community storytelling within a mission led organisation that values lived experience, anti-racism, ethical storytelling and progressive change. I would bring creativity, care, technical skill and a strong commitment to helping Music Action International grow its public profile and reach new audiences.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience, portfolio and passion for music-led social change could support your team.
