From Brixton to Windsor Castle: A Royal Celebration of Community Music
Last week, I had one of the most surreal and unforgettable experiences of my life, an invitation to Windsor Castle to celebrate community music across the UK.
As someone who grew up in Brixton and built a creative journey rooted in grassroots music and youth development, stepping into Windsor Castle was something I never imagined. The event brought together musicians, community leaders, and organisations who are all using music as a force for connection and change.
It was a true honour to be in the same room as His Majesty King Charles III, celebrating the power of music and its role in strengthening communities. I’m still processing it all, from the architecture of the castle to the stories shared by so many inspiring individuals doing incredible work in their own regions.
What made the day even more special was sharing it with friends and fellow creative: Tamara Kohler, Collin Hills, and Amy Taylor. Their commitment to creativity and community continues to inspire me, and I’m grateful we got to experience this moment together.
This wasn't just a celebration of music, it was a reminder of how far we can go when we stay true to our values, stay rooted in community, and keep building, brick by brick.
Thank you to everyone who made the day so special. I carry this moment with deep appreciation, for Brixton, for the journey, and for what’s yet to come.
